Music:
Joe Walsh: But seriously folks
This is one of the most relaxed cd’s of all time- a very
laid back one with great songs on it. Joe Walsh is not only
one of best guitar players in the world and a member of the
Eagles but with this great CD from 1978 he wrote some kind of
pop history- however this CD is not that easy to get. It contains
the very popular “Life’s been good’ although
this songs is really better to listen live. My favorite on this
one is “Second Hand Store”, great country song and
great lyrics- then “Tomorrow” and “Indian
Summer” to only name a few. I usually still listen to
this one as much as I can- and it is a great start when having
breakfast.
Eagles: On the boarder
Ok, most people would probably say “Hotel California”
is their favorite or best CD from the Eagles. I will write something
later. Anyway, On the Boarder is the CD from the Eagles that
I listen quite often and I love it- it has no filler on it and
the starter “Already gone” is a life theme song
for me, sung by Glen Frey- as I am one time here and the next
day there- I love it so much. My favorite one is “My Man”
, a great ballad and one of the most harmonized songs I ever
listened. And then we have “A good day in hell”,
this song is often overlooked, a great rock song, great guitar
solo. The CD ends with “Best of my love”, we all
know this gentle ballad and another favorite of mine.
Fleetwood Mac: Rumors
Moving right to the point that this is one of the few best selling
pop albums in music history it deserves it definitely. Rumors
was recorded when the band had some inner conflicts and the
two couples breaking up- but look at the result of it. “Don’t
stop” is a very positive song and it always brings me
in a good mood whenever I hear it. I remember once being in
Cairns and the listening to it on the bus, made me day, really.
Then the great “Go your own way”, great guitar solo
by Lindsey Buckingham and a evil song after breaking up but
somewhat true. The remastered CD contains “Silver Springs”
sung by Stevie Nicks which is one of my all time favorites-
I never get bored to listen to it. I highly recommend that one.
B’z: Loose
Hey, here we go- the band I am addicted to. B’z is Japanese
No. 1 band and with the Eagles my favorite band- they are great
and I never get bored to listen to them. Loose is B’z
8 th studio album from 1995 and contains the smash hits “Love
Phantom”, “Negai” and “Love me, I love
you”. It is a spanking good album- makes me scream and
brings me in a good mood- “Big” is another real
great song and it is no surprise why it sold so many copies.
Tak Matsumoto’s guitar skills are just amazing and the
way Koshi Inaba sings the songs always hit the point. Many people
in Europe don’t know them, well just this, since 1990
each single and CD went straight to No. 1 in Japan- this is
a record. Keep it going.
Big Mountain: New Day
Big Mountain is a reggae band from san Diego- most people know
them of their hit “Baby, I love your way”, cover
from 1994. The band around Quino & Co does really great
tunes and made various CD’s already. Unfortunately “New
Day” was overlooked by many- don’t know why- it
has very good songs in it and it is another great reggae CD.
My favorites are “The Wind”, “Do right”
and the title track. I can actually recommend all the CD’s
from Big Mountain and this one is no exception.
Roxette: Have a nice day
Roxette is one of Sweden’s greatest bands after Abba-
on my website I can’t review each CD that I have so I
just choose a selection. Have a nice day is an easy listening
CD from Roxette- I once saw them live, they did a great show
and this CD contains nice ballads like “wish I could fly”
, “Cooper” and ‘Beautiful Things” and
the upbeat “Crush on you” and “Stars”.
Per Gessle is a good song writer and Marie Fredriksson shows
her wonderful singing skills once again on this CD. Well done.
Ringo Starr: Storytellers VH1
I never thought that I would buy a CD from Ringo- but then I
thought why not? And I think I was lucky to get that live CD
from him- the sound quality and his performance are cool. It
is very entertaining and his performance of “Love me Do”
barely sounded as good as on this CD. You can also find “Octopus’s
garden” one of my favorite Beatles songs and “It
don’t come easy”. Ringo is often overlooked and
the great thing on this CD is that he always has something to
say in between the songs.
Stevie Nicks: Greatest Hits
I want to add a last CD review here to this section- I bought
this greatest hits collection this year in 2007 and what can
I say? Love it. Stevie Nicks is a great artist with her husky
voice and her great song writing skills. “Landslide”
is one of the most meaningful songs that have ever been written,
here you can find a live version. It also includes her duet
with Don Henley “Leather and Lace” and the powerful
“I can’t wait”. Another favorite of mine here
is ‘Planets of the universe” and “Sorcerer”
from “Trouble in Shangri La”. Then you can find
an upbeat version of “Dreams” with Deep Dish on
that one, too. I can highly recommend this CD.
